Tone on Tone Copic Colored Roses

I've started to use my Copics on colored cardstock, experimenting with different color combos.  In this case, I used Papertrey Ink's Aqua Mist cardstock and stamped the large rose from Waltzingmouse Roses in Bloom with Paris Dusk Memento ink.  Then I colored part of the petals with Snow Green (BG0000) and Ice Ocean (BG72) Copic Sketch markers. I added a ribbon and a sentiment and some white gel pen accents.  (I have no dark blue ribbon -- how did this happen??)

I'm not sure about this color combo -- there may be a bit too much contrast for me, but it is fun to experiment.

The nice thing about coloring on colored cardstock?  You really don't need to do a whole lot of shading.  The cardstock hides a lot of imperfections and you achieve a variety of looks.

Birthday Bird Trio

I'm running like crazy lately getting ready for a little trip, so rather than try to rush through a card, I thought I'd share an older one that I made with WMS before the blog began:

I just love these little birds!!  They are colored with Copic markers using the colorless blender to create the spots.  The ribbon treatment is added by using the SU slot punch on either end and wrapping natural twill and chocolate brown ribbon through the slots.

I had just stamped a few birds to play around with the coloring and then decided to make a card out of them.  So they aren't perfectly straightly stamped, but that's part of the handmade charm, right?!

Happy Birthday

My son's friend, Suvan, is turning 5--Free Spirit stamp set to the rescue! I think lots of boys this age love bikes, so I went with that as a focal image. The background is stamped with the grid from Off-Beat Backgrounds and I used some PTI stamps for his name and the sentiment.

The hardest part of this card was the bow, after 30 minutes trying to tie a perfect bow I gave up :(

Surf's Up

I have been playing with my Free Spirit Stamps again. Its just such a unique set... still haven't seen any other like it. For this card I used a green Hero Arts base. Next I layered on some Hawaiian shores that I had stamped with the hibiscus flowers in Versamagic turquoise gem ink.
Next came the white layer. I stamped the stripe on in turquoise gem. Next came the surfboards, I used versamagic inks again but I am not sure which colors and I am too lazy to get up right now. The sentiments are from Free Spirit Sentiments. I inked the edges with both the turquoise and the green color. Hope you like it! Thanks for stopping in!

Blue Bees

Today I used several Waltzingmouse sets:

The DP is from Basic Grey Urban Prairie, and it's stamped over with one of those fabulous plaid-making stamps in PTI Ripe Avocado.   The cardstock, flowers, sentiment and blue sponging are PTI Enchanted Evening.

I used pale green rhinestones for the flower centers and corner treatment, which is from an EK Success punch.   And I drew little circles with a Sakura blue glaze pen for the petals, and used gold metallic and clear glitter pens for the little bees.

Everything but that little corner punch is mounted on SU dimensional foam, and the jute is from PTI for a finishing touch.

A simple little get well card but oh so exciting for me since I hadn't stamped for awhile!!!
