Happy Birthday

It's been forever since I posted over here....sorry about that!

I've really been enjoying smy new WMS stamps and this is the lastest card I made:

I stamped the background using Faux Fun, with Lulu Lavendar ink (Memento) onto a Vintage Cream sheet, while masking off the frame area. The cameo, from Cameo Creations, was heat-embossed with black powder. The sentiment comes from PTI, as well as the die for the frame and the ribbon.

Thanks for taking a look!

Backgrounds

I have two cards to share today that feature heat-embossed backgrounds using WMS stamps. Both cards have similar elements and layouts, but achieve different looks.

Photobucket

For the first card, I stamped the lace image (my very favorite background ever!) onto Kraft cardstock and heat embossed.

The second card uses a background stamp, the knit one, from the same set, Faux Fun. This time I stamped in onto Hibiscus Burst carstock.

I love the texture and feel heat-embossing gives to a card, and as you can see, Waltzingmouse Stamps has some beautiful background stamps!

Thanks for coming by!

I Love You

Sorry to be gone so long! The holidays really threw me off this year, and then we've had some sickness in my house....but I'm back now!

Here's a Valentine card I made using my favorite Faux Fun background stamp, which I heat embossed with clear powder.

Santa's Workshop

I made my second Christmas card of 2010...and it's pretty non-traditional! I have a serious problem in that I use Hawaiian Shores on every. single. card I make lately. I'm not sure when it will end...

Santa's Workshop

My card follows Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge #12.

This card uses Faux Fun as a background, stamped with Rouge Colorbox Chalk ink onto Vintage Cream cardstock. The main image is from the 2009 "Secret Set", which I stamped with Rich Cocoa ink (Memento) and colored in with Copics. The ribbon is Raspberry Fizz satin, and of course, the card base is Hawaiian Shores.

Thank You

Embossed thank you

For this card I heat embossed the lace image from Faux Fun with clear detail embossing powder onto Sweet Blush cardstock. I also heat embossed the frame from Very Vintage Label 4 set. The "thank you" comes from Say It With Style.

Thank You

Sorry for the delay in posting today...with summer vacation in full swing, stamping time is harder to find!

I made a card following the newest Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge . What a great sketch!

My card uses some paper from Making Memories Noteworthy collection, the large knit stamp from Faux Fun, a frame from Very Vintage Labels 4 and the sentiment from Say it With Style.

Add in lots of distress ink for the edges, stitching, Prima flowers, borders and a ribbon and that's it!

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Anniversary

Happy Wednesday!

This quick card was created using my favorite lace border image from Faux Fun, heat embossed with Black Detail Embossing Powder (Filigree) on Raspberry Fizz cardstock (PTI).

On the inside I stamped the Very Vintage Label 4 image and the sentiment from Say it With Style.

Plaid Hugs

For my husband, who deserves way more than a card!

Card Construction Details:

1.  Decide on light blue and orange scheme -- works with color wheel and Mike likes orange.
2.  Die cut cream cardstock with Nestability No. 4 die.
3.  Using temporary double sided tape, adhere die cut to pad of grid paper and stamp Waltzingmouse dotted frame from Very Vintage Labels No. 4 in PTI Spring Rain (also known as Light Blue) ink.  Perfect first time as Claire and I both geniuses.
4.  Stamp heart from Sweethearts set.
5.  Stamp sentiment from same set in Memento Tangelo ink ("orange" in non stamper speak).
6.  Stamp plaid from WM Faux Fun Cream PTI ink and Tangelo ink onto Spring Rain cardstock.
7.  Watch Say Yes to the Dress with my Mom.
8.  Marvel that woman buys $11,000 dress when she could have room full of stamping supplies instead.
9.  Assemble card as shown, adding PTI Tea dye inks along edges and coloring white brads with a Copic marker cause it is easier than hunting through stash of orange embellishments buried under stash of magazines.
10.  Debate whether it matters that the word "and" is not centered over the heart, but is centered on the die cut.  Decide issue will remain one of life's mysteries.
11.  Notice that plaid layer crooked.
12.  Remove plaid layer and hold breath to see whether entire card ruined.
13.  Ah! Dimensionals used not all that strong and layer removes without major damage.
14.  Reattach correctly and press hard on new layer of dimensionals to stick.

The little card that couldn't...

couldn't be made in time for the huge Waltzingmouse Stamps competition last Saturday, that is! I tried to get it finished but those darn kids kept asking for food and other life neccessities!

Instead, I will share it here.

The background was made by stamping the lace border strip with Versamark on Hawaiian Shores and clear embossed. I cut the large circle using my Coluzzle circle cutter (old-school, huh?!), stamped the flowers from Spring Baskets and colored in with Copic markers. I then added the ribbon and buttons and adhered it all to a Vintage Cream base.

Thanks for looking!

How NOT to Make a Card...

Come listen to a story about a card gone wild...

but first, this is for the Waltzingmouse Challenge, which you can find here.  (You can win 8 stamps sets from the May release (tomorrow!). Please don't enter as it will reduce my chances of winning...

Card Construction Details:

1.  Stamp image from Faux Fun with Versamark on PTI Aqua Mist cardstock.  Trimmed to 4" square.
2.  Stamp Mother (sentiment from Roses in Bloom) with Hawaiian ink on Mulberry paper.
3.  Die cut oval in Aqua Mist cardstock and adhere mulberry to back.

4.  Cannot read sentiment so gently peel back cardstock from oval.  Huge mess.
5.  Distress and ink edges.
6.  Trim Papertrey Ink Hawaiian Shores cardstock to 4 and 1/4" square.  More distressing and inking.

7.  Stamp rose from Roses in Bloom on cream cardstock twice and once on mulberry.  Trim.
8.  Add rose as shown with one layer on dimensionals cause that's what everyone does.
9.  Add pearls ALL the way around oval.

10.  Heat set ivory silk ribbon to curl.  Learn silk ribbon doesn't curl when heat set.  Twist ribbon and tie in vain attempt to create trendy looking old ribbon.
11.  Make separate bow.  Cut off original horrible bow and added new bow with glue dots.  Trim tails too short. Repeat THREE times until bow looks semi decent. Waste huge amounts of expensive silk ribbon.  Good thing husband doesn't read this blog.
12.  Order chinese food as clear no time for cooking.

13.  Stamp different rose on 4 and 1/2" square cream card with Hawaiian Shores ink.
14.  Glue everything.  Is straight in person but looks crooked in picture (??)
15.  Pearls look like tacky Neon Sign.  Pull off most.  Tear cardstock where pearls had been.  Seriously consider selling off all supplies and going to real Hawaiian shores with proceeds.  Cannot bear to start over, proving am not perfectionist.

16. Have dinner with husband.
17.  Tear various parts of card and throw PTI tea dye ink around to look more distressed.
18.  Will give card to my Mom for Mother's Day and expect "Oh, so the tearing is on purpose?"

Happy Wednesday! I'm back this week to show you a card I made with two Waltzingmouse sets: Nestie Eggs and Faux Fun . I went a little crazy with the gold embossing powder. What do you think--too much gold?

A spring basket card

Hi everyone! I'm so happy to be here to share my first card as a "Waltzingmouse Maker"! Let me show you what I made...

a card using Spring Baskets and Faux Fun !

If you saw my blog hop card you might remember that I paired these sets together in that as well, but today's card has a different look. I kept a sentiment off as well, as I thought it might end up as a birthday or even a thank you...I'll wait and see, LOL!

I stamped the beautiful border stamp with Versamark and heat set it with clear detail embossing powder. For the focal image, I stamped the basket first, then the flowers on top, and the flowers again on a separate piece of Kraft cardstock. I then colored it, cut it out and popped it up with foam tape.

Thanks for taking a look at my card today, and don't forget to keep checking back--we'll have posts Monday-Friday!

Melissa
